What is Workplace Stars?

We are a global research and management consultancy that provides organization and advisory services. Our passion is to improve companies, peoples' working lives, benefit society and create STAR Workplaces - 1 STAR at a time. The company was founded in 2007 to provide a simple research-driven methodology that could be widely used to understand and assess the effectiveness and internal health of organizations by using proprietary research-based human analytics tools to measure manager and employee engagement, loyalty and retention and drive key success metrics. Other offerings include free workplace reviews for both employees and employers and our Global Licensee Network dedicated to creating STAR Workplaces.

We believe that managers should not have to be statisticians. We offer a global toggle in our client panel dashboards to display results in either of two views:
  • Simple Star View (the choice of busy executives) or,
  • Detailed Raw scores (for the analysts and data mavens).

We also offer customized statistical analyses to help you get the most out of your data:

Driver Analysis – find out what is really driving organizational performance. In larger organizations this analysis can be performed for units within the organization.
Link to external metrics – conduct analyses among ORG360 items is very useful, yet relating scores to real life business metrics (customer satisfaction scores, employee turnover, financial performance, quality, etc.) is even better.

What does getting started mean?

After we process payment, you will receive a URL and special code to register and gain access to your ORG360 via your Client Panel. Your next step is to add participants and define groups. When this is completed, participants will be notified by email to participate. We are always available to help as necessary.

Aren’t you a survey company?

Not in a traditional way. We are a ORG360 company who uses an online questionnaire to deliver both organization and workplace intellegence. We’re a company on a mission. The mission is to make public, on an optional basis, a side-by-side comparison of organization and workplace cultures. Organizations who successfully meet predetermined standards of performance and workplace excellence will be publicly recognized through our exclusive STAR Trustmark & Registry. Those on our registry will have:

  • Agreed to share key ORG360 results online
  • Achieved a STAR Trustmark of at least 3.01 on 5.0 scale and meet a minimum participation requirement

  • Reapply every 12 months

The last thing the world needs is another survey?

You’re right. The world can do without another employee engagement survey which reinforces a one-sided, entitlement—“what’s in it for me” only mindset. This is why we offer a ORG360 that measures both performance and workplace excellence success factors that help everyone to win.

What qualifies Workplace Stars to determine workplace excellence?

We have performed thousands of organization and workplace suveys over several decades. From this experience, the ORG360 items statistically correlate to better outcomes, staff retention and improved service to others. If you have additional issues at your organization you wish to address, we will customize a ORG360 to fit your needs.

Why would an organization pay to get a STAR Trustmark?

Why would any organization not want to be STAR Workplace? In real estate it is said that three things are important: location-location-location. For organizations it is branding, branding and branding. Every organization, be it profit, nonprofit or public competes…competes for business, competes for funding or competes for public perception. Our STAR Workplace & Trustmark solution helps organizations win valuable “share-of-mind” real estate.

Who would want to be published if they have less than 5 stars?

The minimum standard for one star is both performance and workplace excellence. A STAR Trustmark means the organization is on the positive end of the scale and is a positive place to thrive and win. There are five degrees of performance and workplace excellence. You may know that five stars are awarded by the United States military only during times of war, a rare occurrence. This being the case, if you were a one or two star General, would you wear this achievement proudly? We say yes.

What does a ORG360 cost?

What does the ORG360 measure?

The ORG360 measures Stewardship, Staff Engagement/Passion and Service, including such issues as retention, stakeholder satisfaction and leadership.

You will have online access to a suite of game-changing reports that help turn organization and workplace intelligence into action. Most importantly, our ORG360 R
eports are intuitive and simple to read. We have an expert team of Ph.D. level professionals to make sense of the numbers so you don't have to.

Stewardship Dimension — actions that protect the long term viability, financial health and well-being of the organization and its people.

How do you know if the ORG360 is accurate?

Our Ph.D. experts have vetted the items against research that shows a relationship between high ORG360 scores and staff performance. This, in turn, is linked to organizational outcomes. By addressing the issues that increase workplace excellence, employers are able to generate better measurable outcomes.

ORG360 items have been extensively researched and anchored in both historic and emerging multidisciplinary research on motivation including Paul R. Lawrence and Nitin Nohria's 4 drives to acquire/achieve, bond/belong, learn/challenge and defend/define.

Who has access to the ORG360 results?

Our experience is that it takes a team to help a team. Moving organizational intelligence into action is beyond what one person can do alone. Therefore, our Advanced360 and Premium360 Report levels enable the administrator to control permissions and can grant anyone within the organization or a department access to the report. This makes it easy to share ORG360 information to improve results.

Are employee responses to the ORG360 items anonymous?

Yes. That said, regardless of this fact some people will not trust that their ORG360 data and identity is safe. We go to great lengths in our instructions to participants to encourage them to be honest in their responses. We remind them that their answers are anonymous (not confidential, since summary data is shared). Fact is that no data is released unless four (4) or more participants have responded. If we lose our credibility, we lose your business as well as everyone you tell. We obsessively protect our relationships.

How long does the ORG360 it take to complete?

Participants consistently report that it takes them about 15-20 minutes to complete. The ORG360 includes scale, multiple-choice and open response questions. Staff respond to questions within a range of "Strongly Agree" to "Strongly Disagree," with a not-applicable (N/A) option available.

We understand staff members are busy people. If they are interrupted in the middle of the ORG360, they can save and finish at a later date. Their responses will be stored so they do not have to start over again.

Data is just data – what are we going to do with our ORG360 results?

Once you have your ORG360 Report, you’re not alone in facing the biggest challenge – how do you transform organizational intelligence into action?

In addition to our lead practice Rollout Success Guide available exclusively in your Client Panel Resource Center, the
ORG360 Report has an online improvement target tool designed to help you transform your results into an ongoing plan for improvement. The ORG360 allows you to share the results — and the responsibility — with front-line supervisors and managers.

The
ORG360 Report breaks down results to each manager’s area of responsibility. The premium report recommends quick and intermediate wins to improve stewardship, engagement/passion or service. Your managers must stay focused on running the organization, not analyzing data. As a result, the ORG360 Report provides short, easy to understand reports that clearly identify areas for improvement. In addition, we provide current to previous comparison feedback that helps identify progress or regress and link ORG360 outcomes to measurable improvement.
